How to cancel ElevenLabs: log in, open your profile menu, go to Subscription, click Billing, choose Cancel Plan under Modify Plan, then confirm Cancel Subscription. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your billing cycle; unused paid credits expire then. Refunds are possible within 14 days of payment if no credits were used. Checked 1 Nov 2026.

Best for: Stopping recurring billing while keeping the rest of the paid month you already paid for.

Not for: Users who just need fewer credits — downgrading keeps the account paid at a lower tier.

Starting price: $0 to cancel; the account drops to the free plan with 10,000 credits a month.

How to cancel your ElevenLabs subscription: the 7 official steps

These steps come from ElevenLabs’ own help center article “How do I cancel my subscription?” (checked 1 Nov 2026). The whole flow lives inside your account — no email to support and no chat is required.

  1. Log in to your account at elevenlabs.io.
  2. Click your profile icon in the top right corner of the website to open your account menu, then select Subscription.
  3. Click Billing.
  4. In the Modify Plan section, select Cancel Plan, then Proceed.
  5. In the next step, select Cancel Subscription to confirm.
  6. You will see confirmation that your cancellation is scheduled for the end of your current billing cycle.
  7. Changed your mind? At any time before the end of your billing cycle, click Resume subscription to withdraw the cancellation request.

What happens to your credits after you cancel?

Two different fates. Unused paid credits from your subscription expire when the cancelled plan ends — the pricing page FAQ is explicit: after the downgrade to the Free plan, “any unused paid credits will expire.” There is no cash-out and no transfer to another account. The free plan’s own 10,000 monthly credits then apply as normal, refilling each cycle with no rollover.

Contrast that with upgrading: if you move to a higher plan instead of cancelling, unused credits roll over into the next billing cycle. Cancellation is the one action that forfeits the balance, so the smart move is to spend down paid credits on the projects you care about before the cycle ends.

ActionWhat happens to credits
Cancel subscriptionUnused paid credits expire at cycle end; account gets the free 10,000/month
Downgrade planSame as cancel: unused paid credits expire; the lower paid allowance applies
Upgrade planUnused credits roll over into the next billing cycle
Do nothing (let it renew)Paid credits continue; unused paid credits can roll over up to two months

What happens to your subscription after you cancel?

You can cancel at any time, and the subscription stays active until the end of your current billing cycle — it does not renew, and the account is then downgraded to the Free plan. That means cancelling on day 5 of a 30-day cycle still gives you 25 days of paid features, including the commercial license and the full credit allowance.

Your voices, projects, and history stay on the account; only the paid allowance and the commercial license go away. Audio you already published under the paid license stays published. Our ElevenLabs free plan guide covers what the free tier includes after the drop.

Can you undo a cancellation?

Yes, until the cycle ends. The help center article includes a Resume subscription option that withdraws the cancellation request at any point before the billing cycle closes — useful if you cancelled in haste or a new project lands mid-month. After the cycle ends and the account has dropped to free, resuming means subscribing again, and the old plan’s pricing and any first-month offers are not guaranteed to still apply.

What about cancelling an annual plan?

Annual billing works the same way mechanically: you cancel through the same profile menu, Subscription, Billing, and Modify Plan flow, and the plan stays active until the end of the current billing period — which, on annual billing, is the end of the year you paid for. Annual plans work out to two months free (you pay for 10 months: $5/month Starter, $18.33/month Creator, $82.50/month Pro), so cancelling mid-year means walking away from months you already bought.

The refund math is the same 14-day rule: a refund needs a request within 14 days of the annual payment with no credit quota used in that period. Past day 14, the annual payment is not coming back, but no further yearly charge will be taken. If you are unsure about a full year, the monthly plan is the lower-risk way to test — and the first-month offers ($1 Starter until Nov 8, $11 Creator) make the trial nearly free.

Refund position: the 14-day rule

ElevenLabs’ refund policy (help center, checked 1 Nov 2026) sets two conditions: you are eligible for a refund if the request is filed within 14 days of payment AND no credit quota was used in the period for which you are seeking the refund. Use any credits in that billing period and the refund is off the table. The policy points to a separate “How can I request a refund?” article for the filing process.

Note the distinction: cancelling stops the next renewal, but it does not by itself trigger a refund of the current period. A refund needs the 14-day window and zero credit use. For annual billing, cancelling stops the next yearly charge; whether the current year’s payment comes back is still decided by the 14-day rule.

Cancelling ElevenLabs: pros and cons

Pros

  • Cancel at any time — no lock-in and no minimum term on monthly plans.
  • The paid plan runs to the end of the cycle, so you keep everything you paid for.
  • Cancellation is reversible until the cycle ends via the Resume subscription option.
  • The account survives: voices, projects, and history remain on the free plan.

Cons

  • Unused paid credits expire — there is no refund of the credit balance and no transfer.
  • The commercial license ends with the subscription; new commercial generation stops.
  • Refunds need 14 days AND zero credit use — a narrow window in practice.
  • Downgrading forfeits unused paid credits too, so timing matters there as well.
  • Re-subscribing later does not guarantee the old pricing or first-month offers.

Who should NOT cancel — downgrade instead

If you still need some paid audio, downgrading beats cancelling: a Creator user dropping to Starter keeps the commercial license and 30,000 credits for $6 instead of losing everything to the free plan. The same credit rule applies — unused paid credits expire on downgrade too — so time the downgrade near the end of your cycle after spending the balance down. Compare the tiers in our ElevenLabs pricing breakdown, and watch the ElevenLabs discount page for first-month offers if you plan to return.

And if you only need a pause, remember the subscription stays active to the cycle end anyway. Cancelling early in the cycle is effectively a free pause for the remaining days — there is no reason to wait until the last day to click through the steps above.

Frequently asked questions

How do I cancel my ElevenLabs subscription?

Log in, click your profile icon in the top right corner, open the account menu, select Subscription, click Billing, then choose Cancel Plan under Modify Plan and confirm Cancel Subscription. The help center confirms the cancellation is scheduled for the end of your current billing cycle, and you can click Resume subscription any time before then to undo it.

Can I cancel ElevenLabs at any time?

Yes. The pricing page FAQ states you can cancel at any time; the subscription remains active until the end of the current billing cycle, then does not renew and the account drops to the Free plan. There is no minimum term and no early-cancellation fee on monthly plans.

What happens to my credits when I cancel ElevenLabs?

Unused paid credits expire when the cancelled plan ends — the pricing FAQ states this explicitly, and the help center repeats it: at the end of the cycle the account moves to the free plan “and you will lose any unused credits.” The free plan’s 10,000 monthly credits then apply, with no rollover.

Will I get a refund if I cancel?

Only within the refund policy’s terms: a request filed within 14 days of payment, with no credit quota used in the period you are seeking the refund for. Cancelling alone does not trigger a refund — it stops the next renewal. If you used any credits that cycle, the refund is not available.

Can I undo my ElevenLabs cancellation?

Yes, before the billing cycle ends. The official article includes a Resume subscription option that withdraws the cancellation request. Once the cycle has ended and the account has dropped to the free plan, you would need to subscribe again — previous pricing and first-month offers are not guaranteed to still apply.

Do I lose my voices and projects if I cancel?

No. Cancellation ends the paid allowance and the commercial license, but your account — voices, projects, and history — remains and moves to the free plan with its 10,000 monthly credits. Nothing you created is deleted by the downgrade.
