Short answer: Yes, Higgsfield is expensive when you pay full price per video — the price is not the plan, it is the per-video credit cost. A 5-second clip costs 5 to 40 credits depending on the model, and Starter is $19/mo for 270 credits (checked 6 Nov 2026).

Best for: Creators who make video every week and want many models in one place.

Not for: Anyone who needs one or two clips a month, or a free plan — every generation spends credits, and the Free plan holds 0 credits.

Starting price: $19/mo for the Starter plan (checked 6 Nov 2026). I read the Starter/Plus/Ultra plan set (US) — see the full plan comparison.

Why Higgsfield feels expensive

Higgsfield feels expensive for one reason: the price you notice is not the plan, it is the credits disappearing. You pay $19 a month for Starter and get 270 credits, and then a single 10-second clip can eat 40 of them. The monthly number looks small and the per-video number looks big, and the gap between the two is where the sticker shock lives.

The second reason is that every failed generation costs the same as a good one. A prompt that misses, a face that drifts, a camera move that reads wrong — each one spends credits again.

The third reason is the model spread. The cheapest video models cost about 7 credits per 5 seconds at 720p, and the priciest cost about 40 credits per generation. Wan 3.0, the newest multi-shot model, charges 8.75 credits per 5 seconds at 720p and 17.5 at 1080p. One video can cost six times what another one costs.

What one video actually costs

Higgsfield bills video by the 5-second unit, and the rate depends on the model and the resolution. The official pricing page lists the rates, and our credits guide has the full per-model table. These are the rates that matter most, checked 6 Nov 2026.

ModelWhat you getCost
Kling 3.0Up to 15 seconds, single takeAbout 7 credits per 5 seconds
Wan 2.5Up to 10 seconds, synced audioAbout 7 credits per 5 seconds
Wan 2.6Multi-shot cinematicAbout 7 credits per 5 seconds
Grok Video6 seconds at 480pAbout 7 credits
Wan 3.0Up to 30 seconds, six shots8.75 credits per 5 seconds at 720p
Hailuo 2.36 secondsAbout 19 credits
Seedance 2.55 secondsAbout 20 credits
Seedance 2.05 secondsAbout 22 credits
Veo 3.1Flagship, per generationAbout 40 credits

Read the table across a real project and the gaps get stark. One 10-second Kling 3.0 clip is about 14 credits. One Veo 3.1 generation is about 40 credits, and a second run takes it to 80. A 30-second Wan 3.0 sequence at 720p is 52.5 credits — our Wan 3.0 guide prices the full sequence — and the Prime variant of the same sequence is 90 credits. The model you pick matters more than the plan you buy, because the same 270 Starter credits buy about 38 Kling clips or about 6 Veo 3.1 generations.

Resolution doubles the bill too. Wan 3.0 charges 5 credits per 5 seconds at 480p, 8.75 at 720p and 17.5 at 1080p, and Prime charges 7.5, 15 and 30 for the same three resolutions. Test at 720p and only render the final version higher.

Images cost 2 to 8 credits each, so video is where the bill grows.

What the plans actually buy

Four plans sit on the official pricing page. The Free plan costs $0 and holds 0 credits, so it generates nothing on its own. The paid plans are a monthly credit allowance, and the allowance is the real product.

PlanPrice (checked 6 Nov 2026)Credits per month
Free$00 credits
Starter$19/mo270 credits
Plus$59/mo or $47/mo billed yearly1,200 credits
Ultra$129/mo or $99/mo billed yearly3,000 credits

Annual billing lowers the monthly rate on the two bigger plans: Plus drops from $59 to $47 a month when billed yearly, and Ultra drops from $129 to $99. Starter stays at $19 a month either way. Per credit, that is about $0.07 on the entry plan, about $0.06 on average, and about $0.03 on a $25 credits pack.

How many videos each plan buys

On Starter’s 270 credits, you get about 38 five-second Kling 3.0 clips, about 12 Seedance 2.0 clips, or about 6 Veo 3.1 generations. On Plus, with 1,200 credits, those numbers become about 171 Kling clips, about 54 Seedance 2.0 clips, or 30 Veo 3.1 generations.

For a finished-minute view, Seedance 2.0 runs about 220 credits per finished minute, while the same minute on Kling 3.0 is about 84 credits.

Credits expire at the end of each billing cycle and do not roll over into the next month. A month where you leave 70 of your 270 Starter credits unused wastes about $4.90 of the $19 you paid, so the plan only pays for itself when the credits get used. If your output swings from month to month, a credits pack tops you up without changing the plan — packs are one-time purchases, added instantly, that work across all models.

When Higgsfield is not expensive

Not every generation on Higgsfield spends credits. The pricing page lists free monthly allowances: Soul V2 character generations run 300 free a month on Starter, 5,000 on Plus and 10,000 on Ultra, and Cinema generations carry free amounts on every paid plan. Character and motion-transfer work is far cheaper than the per-video table suggests.

Higgsfield also sells a 365-day unlimited plan that covers standard generation for a full year.

Seven ways to make Higgsfield cheaper

Each step below cuts what you pay per finished video.

Step 1 — Start every idea on the cheapest model

Test the scene on Kling 3.0 or Wan 2.5 at about 7 credits per 5 seconds before you run it on Veo 3.1 at about 40. A 10-second test costs 14 credits on the cheap model and 40 on the flagship.

Step 2 — Draft at 480p, render at 720p

Wan 3.0 charges 5 credits per 5 seconds at 480p against 8.75 at 720p. Drafting at 480p cuts the test cost by about 40%, and you only pay the higher rate once, for the version you keep.

Step 3 — Keep clips short

A 30-second Wan 3.0 sequence at 720p is 52.5 credits, and a rerun costs another 52.5. Test the idea as a single 5-second clip at 8.75 credits first.

Step 4 — Use the free generations before paid ones

Run Soul V2, Cinema and Genjutsu work through the free allowances first — 300 Soul V2 generations a month on Starter, and free Cinema generations on every paid plan.

Step 5 — Buy credits in packs for heavy months

When one month needs more than the plan holds, a one-time credits pack beats upgrading the plan for a single busy week. Packs are added instantly, work across all models, and the $25 pack works out to about $0.03 per credit.

Step 6 — Match the plan to your real output

Count the videos you finish in a month, multiply by the per-video cost of the model you use, and pick the plan that covers that number.

Step 7 — Skip 1080p unless the client asks for it

Wan 3.0 at 1080p costs exactly double the 720p rate — 17.5 credits per 5 seconds against 8.75. Save 1080p for the final delivery file.

Higgsfield vs buying each model separately

The honest comparison is not Higgsfield against free tools. It is Higgsfield against buying each video model on its own. Kling’s own Standard plan costs $10 a month and gives 660 credits, about 2.7 cents per credit — cheaper per credit than Higgsfield’s $0.07 entry rate. But that plan only buys Kling. If your month needs four models in one project, four separate subscriptions cost more than one Higgsfield plan.

The break-even is simple to check. Add up the separate plans for the models you use each month; if the total is higher than $19, $59 or $129, Higgsfield’s plan is the cheaper route. If you only ever use one model, the single-model plan is cheaper. Our model lineup page lists every model on Higgsfield, so you can count how many your work touches.

Pros

• One plan covers many video models, so a single subscription replaces several separate ones.

• The cheapest models cost about 7 credits per 5 seconds, so short clips are genuinely cheap.

• Free monthly allowances for Soul V2, Cinema and Genjutsu cover real work at 0 credits.

• Per-5-second pricing is published on the official pricing page, so every video has a known cost before you run it.

Cons

• A failed generation costs the same as a good one, so re-runs multiply the price of every video.

• The Free plan holds 0 credits, so there is no free way to try video at all.

• Credits expire at the end of each billing cycle and do not roll over, so unused credits are lost money.

• The priciest models cost about 40 credits per generation — about six times the cheapest rate on the same plan.

Who should NOT use it

Skip Higgsfield if you make one or two videos a month. A month of Starter costs $19 for clips you could buy as a one-time credits pack or render on a single-model plan for $10. And skip the bigger plans if your output swings month to month: Plus and Ultra only pay off when the credits get used before they expire. For teams, the team plans page shows the per-seat rates — $65 per seat a month billed yearly for teams of 2 to 9.

Frequently asked questions

Is Higgsfield expensive?

It depends on which model you use. The cheapest video models cost about 7 credits per 5 seconds, so a short clip on Starter’s $19 plan is under $1 in credits. The priciest models cost about 40 credits per generation, so a month of heavy flagship use feels expensive.

How much does one Higgsfield video cost?

Between 7 and 40 credits for a 5-second clip at 720p, depending on the model. Kling 3.0, Wan 2.5 and Wan 2.6 cost about 7 credits per 5 seconds, Wan 3.0 costs 8.75 credits, and Veo 3.1 costs about 40 credits per generation.

What is the cheapest Higgsfield plan?

Starter at $19 a month, with 270 credits and no yearly billing option. The Free plan costs $0 but holds 0 credits, so it cannot generate video. Plus is $59 a month or $47 a month billed yearly for 1,200 credits, and Ultra is $129 a month or $99 a month billed yearly for 3,000 credits.

Can I use Higgsfield for free?

No, not for video. The Free plan costs $0 and holds 0 credits, and every video generation spends credits, so there is no free way to render a clip. The pricing page lists some free monthly allowances on paid plans, but those need a paid plan first.

How can I make Higgsfield cheaper?

Test on the cheapest model first, draft at 480p, and keep test clips to 5 seconds. Use the free Soul V2, Cinema and Genjutsu allowances before paid renders, and top up with a one-time credits pack instead of upgrading the plan for one busy month. Annual billing lowers Plus and Ultra to $47 and $99 a month.
