Batch size is the number of images Higgsfield generates from one prompt in a single generation. In Soul, you can set it to 1, 2, 3 or 4 images, and each image is charged separately at the model’s normal credit cost, as stated in the official help center checked on 5 Nov 2026. The total cost is shown on the Generate button before you click it.
| Best for | Anyone who wants several versions of one image in a single run, so they can pick the best face, pose or composition without retyping the prompt. |
| Not for | Anyone on a tight credit budget who only needs one image — batch 1 costs a quarter of batch 4 on the same model. |
| Starting price | $19/mo (Starter, 270 credits) (checked 5 Nov 2026). Prices shown are the Starter/Plus/Ultra set read from a US IP — see the full plan comparison. |
What is batch size in Higgsfield?
Batch size is the count of images made in one generation from one prompt and one set of settings. In Higgsfield Soul, the official help article lists batch size as a generation setting with the range 1 to 4 images, and its FAQ states: up to 4 per generation, and you set the batch size in the generation bar before clicking Generate. The setting sits beside the other Soul settings: aspect ratio (9:16, 3:4, 2:3, 1:1, 4:3, 16:9, 3:2), quality (1.5k, 2k) and Color Transfer with Soul HEX palettes.
Batch size is an image setting. The Soul help article is about image generation, and its generation settings table lists batch size only for images. Video generations in Higgsfield are priced per 5 or 10 seconds, not per batch, as listed in the pricing compare table checked on 5 Nov 2026. If you want several video clips, you generate them one at a time and pay the per-clip cost each time.
How much does batch size cost?
Batch size multiplies the per-image cost. The official credits help article states it plainly: if you set the batch size to 2, 3 or 4 before generating, each output is charged separately, and the total cost is shown on the Generate button. Batch size does not lower the per-image cost.
| Model | Cost per image | Batch of 2 | Batch of 3 | Batch of 4 |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Soul 2.0 | 0.12 credits | 0.24 credits | 0.36 credits | 0.48 credits |
| Soul 2 | 0.30 credits | 0.60 credits | 0.90 credits | 1.20 credits |
| Nano Banana | 0.25 credits | 0.50 credits | 0.75 credits | 1.00 credits |
| Flux 2 Pro | 0.30 credits | 0.60 credits | 0.90 credits | 1.20 credits |
| Seedream 5.0 | 0.50 credits | 1.00 credits | 1.50 credits | 2.00 credits |
| GPT Image 2.5 | 2 credits | 4 credits | 6 credits | 8 credits |
| Nano Banana Pro | 2 credits | 4 credits | 6 credits | 8 credits |
| Seedream 5.0 Pro | 2 credits | 4 credits | 6 credits | 8 credits |
All per-image costs in the table come from the compare table on the official pricing page, checked on 5 Nov 2026, and the batch totals are those costs multiplied by 2, 3 or 4. The cheapest model in the table, Soul 2.0 at 0.12 credits per image, is the one to use for batch testing: a batch of 4 costs 0.48 credits, so a Starter plan with 270 credits a month pays for 562 batches of 4 Soul 2.0 images. The same Starter balance pays for only 33 batches of 4 Nano Banana Pro images, at 8 credits per batch, with 6 credits left over. The Higgsfield Soul 2 prompt guide lists the same Soul 2.0 cost and shows how prompts change the result.
How to change batch size in 5 steps
Change the setting in the generation bar before you generate. Each step below lists its credit cost.
1. Open Soul or Soul 2.0. Go to higgsfield.ai, then Image, then Soul or Soul 2.0. Soul is the quick preset-driven model, and Soul 2.0 gives full creative control with presets, Moodboard, Soul HEX and Soul ID. Cost: 0 credits.
2. Set up your prompt and inputs. Pick a preset, add a prompt, and add a Soul ID character or a reference image if you use one. In Soul 2.0, adding a reference image makes the prompt field unavailable, because the model uses the reference as the main input. Cost: 0 credits until you click Generate.
3. Set batch size in the generation bar. Find the batch size control in the generation bar and pick 1, 2, 3 or 4. Read the total cost on the Generate button before you click it — that total is the per-image cost multiplied by your batch size. Cost: 0 credits.
4. Click Generate. The studio returns up to 4 images from the same prompt and settings. Cost: the per-image cost times the batch size, for example 0.48 credits for a batch of 4 Soul 2.0 images, or 8 credits for a batch of 4 Nano Banana Pro images.
5. Check your usage if the total looks wrong. Click your avatar at the top right, then Manage Account, then Usage in the left sidebar. Credits Usage History shows every deduction, refund, model used and timestamp. Cost: 0 credits.
Batch size 1 vs 4: which should you use?
Use batch 1 when you are testing a new prompt, a new preset or a new Soul ID character, and when your credit balance is tight. A single Soul 2.0 image costs 0.12 credits, so you can test 10 different prompts for 1.20 credits — the same as one batch of 4 Soul 2 images. Testing with batch 1 first also stops you paying for four versions of a prompt that was wrong in the first place.
Use batch 4 when the prompt is already working and you want choice. That is the case for a client set, a social post where the face must be exactly right, or a series where the pose and the colours must match a reference. Four images from one run give you four chances at the same idea, and you keep only the best one. The cost is the same as running the same prompt four separate times — batch size does not add a fee, and it does not lower the per-image cost either.
Use batch 2 or 3 in the middle: when you want a second opinion on a good prompt but do not want to pay for four images. On Nano Banana Pro, batch 2 costs 4 credits and batch 3 costs 6 credits, against 8 credits for batch 4. If you are on the Free plan, none of this applies — the Free plan carries 0 credits, so start with the Higgsfield free credits guide before you plan any batch.
Why did batch size use more credits than expected?
The most common cause is the batch itself. Each of the 2, 3 or 4 outputs is charged separately, so a batch of 4 Nano Banana Pro images costs 8 credits, not 2. Read the total on the Generate button before you click it, and check Credits Usage History after the generation to see each deduction with its model and timestamp.
Three other causes are listed in the same credits help article. First, subscription credits reset at renewal every billing cycle and do not roll over, so a balance can fall to the new month’s amount even if you generated nothing that day. Second, credits spent outside the website — on MCP, CLI, Canvas, Supercomputer or automated tools — always deduct from the same balance, so a generation you made in another tool shows up in the same usage history. Third, a failed generation did not return its credits: most failed generations return their credits automatically, so look in the usage history first, and contact Support if the refund is missing.
If you run out of credits in the middle of a set, you can buy extra credits instead of waiting for renewal. The Higgsfield credits pack guide explains the extra-credit options and their prices. A plan change also changes the maths: a Plus plan at $59/mo or $47/mo billed yearly (1,200 credits) (checked 5 Nov 2026) pays for 2,500 batches of 4 Soul 2.0 images, and an Ultra plan at $129/mo or $99/mo billed yearly (3,000 credits) (checked 5 Nov 2026) pays for 6,250 of them.
Pros and cons
Pros
• Four versions of one idea in a single run, with no retyping.
• The total cost is shown on the Generate button before you pay it.
• Cheapest on Soul 2.0, where a batch of 4 costs only 0.48 credits.
• Works with presets, Moodboards, Soul HEX and Soul ID in Soul 2.0.
Cons
• Every image in a batch is charged separately at the full per-image cost.
• A batch of 4 on an expensive model, such as Nano Banana Pro, costs 8 credits.
• All four images share one prompt, so a wrong prompt wastes four images, not one.
• Batch size is an image setting — it does not apply to video generations.
Who should NOT use it
Skip batch 4 if you are still testing a prompt, if your credit balance is low, or if you only need one image for a post. Also skip it if you mainly make video: batch size is an image setting, and video clips are priced per 5 or 10 seconds instead. If you are new to the studio, work through the how to use Higgsfield guide first, then test with batch 1 on Soul 2.0 at 0.12 credits per image.
Frequently asked questions
What is batch size in Higgsfield?
Batch size is the number of images generated from one prompt in a single generation. In Soul, the setting runs from 1 to 4 images, and you set it in the generation bar before clicking Generate, as stated in the official Soul help article checked on 5 Nov 2026.
How many images can I generate at once?
Up to 4 per generation in Soul. The help article FAQ gives that number directly, and the generation settings table lists batch size as 1 to 4 images. Pick 1 for a quick test, and 4 when you want four versions of the same prompt to compare.
Does batch size cost more credits?
Yes. Each output in a batch is charged separately at the model’s normal credit cost, so a batch of 4 costs four times a batch of 1. The total cost is shown on the Generate button. A batch of 4 Soul 2.0 images costs 0.48 credits, and a batch of 4 Nano Banana Pro images costs 8 credits.
Can I change batch size after clicking Generate?
Set it before you click Generate. The help article states the setting is made in the generation bar before clicking Generate, and it does not describe changing it during a generation. If a run used the wrong batch size, start a new generation with the setting you want.
Does batch size work for video?
No. Batch size is an image setting in Soul’s generation settings table. Video generations are priced per 5 or 10 seconds in the pricing compare table, so each video clip is generated and charged on its own, not as part of a batch.
Why did my credits drop after a batch of 4?
Because each of the 4 outputs was charged separately. Check Credits Usage History — avatar, then Manage Account, then Usage — to see every deduction with its model and timestamp.
